Whisky Classified at the Cambridge Union Whisky Classified
was presented at the University of Cambridge Union on Friday 15th November 2002. A packed house attended David Wishart's seminar in the course of which samples of Aberlour, Glenfiddich, Glengoyne, Glenmorangie, Laphroaig and Macallan were
described and tasted. At the end, the motion "Vote For Scotch Malt Whisky - All Those In Flavour" was carried unanimously by acclamation. As the date coincided with the BBC's appeal for
Children in Need, a raffle was held in aid of the fund. The prize was a bottle of Highgrove 1991 Vintage Laphroaig, generously contributed by HRH The Prince of Wales who made his maiden
public speech here and is a life member of the Union. The winner was Richard Mott who is reading history at Christ's College, and £65 was raised for Children in Need. Richard has told us that he has no immediate plans to open his rather special prize. All who attended the event said that they thoroughly enjoyed it. |
