Whisky Weekends at Cluny Bank Hotel, Forres
We were again in Speyside for the 2004 Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, Friday 30th April -
Sunday 2nd May, 2004 at the Cluny Bank Hotel, 69 St. Leonard's Road, Forres. Whisky Classified was illustrated by a sponsored malt whisky tasting, followed by a whisky-themed
gourmet dinner created by resident chef Alan Gibb. In addition, on Saturday 1st May David Wishart hosted a special whisky tasting of rare and unusual malt whiskies at Glen Moray Distillery, Elgin. Visit the hotel's website, contact René Looper for details, or simply complete and submit the form below.
The Wonderful World of Whisky Gourmet Whisky-Themed Dinner Cluny Bank Hotel, Forres Friday 30 April - Sunday 2 May 2004Resident Chef Alan Gibb and Whisky Writer David Wishart plan more mouth-watering, candle-lit, gourmet
whisky-themed dinners for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival 2004. Full details will be posted here nearer the time, but the menus will be comparable to those presented in 2003. The evening began with a welcome aperitif - this year we presented our new Red, Red Rose
Aperitif featuring Chivas Regal 12yo and Thorncroft Cranbury & Hibiscus Cordial. This was followed by a four course gourmet dinner and freshly-brewed coffee. With each course a different malt whisky was incorporated in the soup, sauce or cream, and a sample of the same malt whisky was served alongside.
The malt whiskies were specially selected to complement the food and illustrate the range of cardinal flavours described in Whisky Classified. David Wishart guided his audience of diners through the flavours, adding notes on the character of each malt and
its history. Distillers who support David's work contributed all the whiskies
used in the sauces and tasting. The sponsors of events at the Cluny Bank Hotel were: An Cnoc 12yo, Ardbeg 10yo, Ben Nevis 10yo, Benromach 15yo, Bruichladdich 10yo, Chivas Regal 12yo,
Dalmore 12yo, Edradour Cream Liqueur, Glen Moray Classic "Chardonnay Finish", Glen Moray 12yo "Chenin Blanc Finish", Highland Park 12yo, Laphroaig 10yo, Thorncroft Cranbury & Hibiscus Cordial and Thorncroft Pink
Ginger Cordial. |
